Why Bother?

Why bother? The benefits of Coaching

Benefits are difficult to articulate in advance – though obvious in hindsight - and they vary from individual to individual.  However, the following benefits are widely found:

Benefits to the individual

  • Independent, objective sounding board; honest and candid feedback - unbiased ‘no hidden agenda’ observations which otherwise can be difficult to access
  • Support and challenge to explore options and generate insights
  • Access to deep experience of leadership, people and change issues
  • The opportunity to step back and gain perspective - time to think, time to reflect

Benefits to the organisation

  • Supporting key talent - talent in an organisation is a scarce resource which needs nurturing and supporting to fulfill its potential. Coaching provides leaders with an additional tool to help them and their teams
  • ‘Heads up’ on key issues/ themes which impact on the ‘engine room’ of your organisation (without compromising individual confidences) - which means that issues arising can be addressed more quickly, alternatives considered where actions may be having undesired impacts, or reinforced where working well
  • Connections are made across the organisation. In organisations people are often working so hard and so fast that obvious connections between key people wrestling with similar business issues can be missed. Coaching can encourage ‘connection’ with others to enable collaboration
